I have an intrepid curiosity for learning, teaching, technology and interesting things. I am not an in-the-box thinker, nor have I had a traditional career path. My choices have been creative and varied. During my early career as a naval architect, I was the most artistic of the engineers and the most numeric of the artists. My fresh and personal appreciation for left and right brain synergies enables me to connect to young adults, ranging from artists to engineers.

I completed the certificate program for Independent Educational Consultants from University of California, Irvine. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from SUNY Maritime College and studied post-graduate engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at Hartford. I am an instructor for the University of California, Irvine Certificate Program for Independent Educational Consultants and teach workshops to fellow consultants on marketing and branding.
I am a Certified Educational Planner and an active Professional member of the IECA, HECA, and NACAC.
Meet Harrison Harvey, storyteller and writing coach
My credentials…
I am a writing coach, playwright, and college essay specialist. My approach to the college essay process is narrative-focused. Everyone has a story they need to tell; I help students discover what that story is and how best to express it. Students who work with me will feel empowered to take ownership of the writing process, develop their voices as storytellers, and navigate a process that many find daunting. Years of experience have enabled me to turn my strong editorial instincts and knack for building rapport with students into a model that minimizes stress and maximizes efficiency. Before joining AdmissionSmarts in 2015, I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Plan II Honors and a BA in Theatre & Dance. I am based in Los Angeles but serve students worldwide.
