What is the best time to begin working with an educational consultant?

We work with students as early as freshmen year and receive new clients as late as fall of senior year. The best time is when students understands their goals and are ready to take ownership of the process; this usually happens sometime during junior year of high school.

What types of students does AdmissionSmarts work with?

Our clients are all different. We get students that apply to every kind of school including Ivy League, small liberal arts colleges, engineering schools and art schools. We see straight-A kids with perfect test scores and C students with average or below average test scores. Whether you are a musical theater lead or a star quarterback, we will listen to you and develop a personalized plan based on your interests, talents, and passions.

How does AdmissionSmarts work with students outside the area?

Most of our students live out of the area and internationally. We email, text, skype and plug you into our proprietary software. Once enrolled in our services, each of our clients is given access to our software through the student portal found on the home page of our website. Shared documents, your college list, and your essay organizer are stored for you here in one neat place. Most of our meetings are done over Skype. We follow up and pass documents through email and through our secure software system.

Our job is to make sure you identify those schools, and that they land on your list. With an overwhelming amount of information out there, building a college list can become stressful. We know what it takes to write a winning essay because we’ve helped hundreds of kids. We will assist you in developing all your essays by brainstorming essay topics and making editing suggestions. While we will not write the essay for you, we will strive to empower you to strengthen your personal voice and to take risks. Through our unique system of poking and prodding, we will push you until you get it right.

Yes. We know that college is a huge investment, and we take our role as your guide very seriously. Our goal is to find a college that best fits you academically, socially and financially. For those of you that don’t qualify for need-based aid, there are many merit scholarships available based on factors like talent, academic excellence, and leadership. Allow us to guide you using our current knowledge about how schools award scholarship money. Many schools today are awarding desirable students generous merit aid packages regardless of their ability to pay.
